Who is this visa for?

This is a permanent visa for employer sponsored foreign workers in certain occupations. 

Eligibility is based on various criteria including position, skills assessment, age, health and character.

What is required?

There are three streams within this program and documents vary based on the stream:

  • Direct Entry

  • Temporary residence transition stream 

  • Labour Market stream


Nomination requirements:

Generally speaking the program requires the nominator to be actively and lawfully operating, to have a genuine need for a role to be filled by a foreign national as well as be able to offer the role for the applicant for at least 2 years.

Visa requirements:

The visa requirements are to have an occupation on the Medium to Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) (unless transitional provisions apply). 

The list of documents/requirements that generally apply are:

  • Health and character requirements

  • Be under 45 years of age (unless exempt)

  • Skills Assessment

  • Relevant employment experience

  • Relevant mandatory licensing, registration or professional membership.

The fees depend on the stream and the composition of the family (where applicable).
